About James Fitzgerald
The trades came first. The writing is built on them.
I am a freelance home improvement writer. Before that, and for a lot longer, I was the person doing the work the articles describe.
The resume runs over a decade deep: construction carpentry, professional arboriculture (the kind where you climb the tree with a saw on your harness), facilities maintenance, welding, ranch work, and years of general handyman service. I learned the trades the way they are actually learned, on crews and on my own, with mistakes that cost me time and money and taught me exactly what your readers are trying to avoid.
The writing started as a sideline and became the main line. Editors kept coming back for the same reason readers do: the details are right because they come from experience, not from the first page of search results.

How I work
Simply. You tell me the audience, the format, and the date. I deliver clean copy on that date, already fact-checked and edited, in your voice if you have one and a strong default if you do not. Clients who need volume get reserved retainer capacity and a writer who holds the same standard at piece three hundred as at piece one.
I am based in the American West and work with clients nationwide, remote by default.
If that sounds like the writer your content program is missing, here is the contact page. I answer everything within one business day.
